Job description
Located near the World Heritage site Kinkaku-ji, our restaurant has been in business for over 60 years and is patronized daily by many customers, including locals, foreign tourists, and students on school trips. Our menu is diverse, featuring our specialty "Kinkaku Bento" as well as yuba and yudofu. We are currently seeking a Head Chef candidate who will lead us into the future.
Responsibilities include overall cooking, kitchen management, procurement, and in the future, attendance management and training for the culinary department.
Meal volume is around 200 meals per day during peak seasons of April-May and October-November. During off-peak seasons, there are many days with only walk-in customers and no reservations. We will provide guidance until you are accustomed to the role. You will work alongside the current Head Chef to create the future of Kinkaku.

We close the restaurant by 3:00 PM on most days throughout the year (we operate at night if there are reservations for 20 or more people, so there are days when we have evening reservations). After cleaning up and preparing for the next day, we usually finish work around 6:00 PM.
